Buckeye Days Parade

January 27 @ 9:30 am

Local Event – Club Attending

DATE:  Saturday, January 27th, 2024

TIME:  9:30 am – 2:00 pm

LOCATION: Downtown Buckeye

Greetings Car Club Members,
For those of you who are participating in the Buckeye Parade on Saturday, 1/28 please sign up so I have an idea of how many vehicles we will have there. This is a fun event for the whole family.  The parade starts out with a cattle drive down Monroe street and is followed by groups like ours, horse groups, tractors, bands and other entries.  Those of you who have been in this event know that we sometimes get some cow poop on our tires, it just happens, but the event is so fun to be part of.  The people love our group and we even won a couple years ago for the group entry.
The Plan-   I aim part of the City Advisory Board and will be working the event.  I will be there by 6am.  You would need to be there by 730am to check in.  As Bill said at the meeting they plan to leave Safeway at 7am to arrive by 730. To get there you will take Estrella to SR85 West right into downtown Buckeye.   When you come into town there is a stoplight at the intersection of SR85 and S. Apache.   (Eason Road is to the right, S. Apache to the left).   There is a Circle K store right at the intersection so you cannot miss it.   Turn left on to S. Apache and the check in will be there.    I have registered our whole group under me.   You would just check in and then be directed to me to line our cars up.  We usually are up front in the line pretty close to the cows.  We will have some VIPS to drive and  am working on that.
The parade is at 930 so we have some downtime.  I have requested some bathrooms of course for the various parade groups as they wait.  You are in down town at this point so walking to town or back is easy if needed.  If you have people coming to the event they can park on any of the side streets on Monroe street easily.   There will be a few thousand people that line the streets for the short, less than 1 mile parade that heads west on Monroe street.
The parade is done quickly.   Some of you asked about restaurants or activities going on that day.  There are many.  There is also a full weekend of Rodeo at the Buckeye Equestrian Center, 10300 S. Miller Road.  (Helzappopin Rodeo)  There is a restaurant there called the Tack Room, but they probably are not open until lunch time.
Here are some other dinning opportunities.
Cafe 25-35, 409 Monroe Street- Big tasty breakfast meals.
Ranchero Rodeo, 343 Monroe- Breakfast, lunch and dinner, southwest dishes.
Arlington Cattle Company- (Old Sonic location) 903 Monroe.   This is a new butcher store with local beef and they now make delicious fresh burgers to eat there or take out.
Wild West Steakhouse, 104 Monroe- Open 24 hours a day.  Mexican, steaks and sandwiches.  No frills at this place but people seem to love it.
La Placita, 424 Monroe Street-  Lunch and Dinner, Southwest and other dishes.
Call or text me if you have any questions (907) 500-5414.
