The new year is a time of reflection, renewal, and hope. It's a moment when we bid farewell to the old and usher in the new - often accompanied by resolutions, goals, and aspirations. This transition is not just a change in the calendar, but an opportunity to start afresh, to reevaluate our paths, and to rejuvenate our hopes for the journey a head us.
Throughout history, numerous thinkers, writers, and public figures have written and spoken about the transition of the new year. Their words capture the optimism, challenges, and introspection that the new year brings. New Year's quotes serve as reminders that each year is a chance to grow, to learn, and to embrace new possibilities.
As we step into the 2024 New Year, I wanted to pass along a thought:
“Change & growth takes more than a moment, yet maybe there's also something to this celebration of a moment, something to the way it speaks to us, something to the way we fear it, and dream it to be true. Maybe it's the most honest moment of the year”.
Dues for the new year are due before the February meeting. We still have a number of outstanding folks. If you have renewed, you can ignore this.
If you haven't, you can send in your check to the club PO box, or the quickest and easiest way is click
here to go to the club website and and pay it there.
While we hope not to lose any of our great members, I know that people's situations change. If you aren't going to renew, please let us know.
This Month's Feature* Jan and Steve Calhoon's 1964 1/2 Mustang
In 1964, Ford, led by Lee Iacocca, scored a major success with the introduction of the affordable and iconic Pony. The distinctive long hood and short rear deck made it an instant classic. Proud members of EMCC, Jan and Steve Calhoon, are now the delighted owners of a classic 64 1/2 Red Convertible model.
The Pony Car made its debut at the World's Fair in NYC on April 17, 1964, and it has been a cherished part of Jan's family since the 60s. Originally purchased for $2400 in Sterling, Illinois, during the summer of 1964, this First Gen Pony rolled off the assembly line at the Dearborn plant in July 1964.
Underneath the hood lies the formidable "D" Series Engine, a 289cu V8 equipped with a Holley 4B and a C-4 Cruise-O-Matic transmission. The car underwent mechanical restoration in 2020, ensuring it remains in top-notch condition.
If you happen to spot this classic beauty cruising around EMR, be sure to give a friendly honk and wave to Jan and Steve.
