Bob & Sally

Bob Barnes is undoubtedly the most knowledgeable member of the club when it comes to the history of hot rodding, drag racing, vintage bicycles, and surfing. He grew up in Southern California and had a front row seat to the evolution of these cultures.

He was able to turn his passion into a successful chrome plating business that he owned for over 50 years. He also has bought and sold hot rods from Tasmania to Australia.

He has owned hundreds of cars but managed to hold onto his ‘34 Ford Roadster that he bought in 1965. He raced the car at LA’s legendary Lions Drag Strip and in 1967 he joined the prestigious LA Roadster Club. This club is limited to 1936 and older Roadsters and was capped at 25 members when Bob joined.  He is a Lifetime Member and during his time in the club, he has held the office of Secretary.

The ‘34 was used in the first season of Happy Days and Jay Leno’s Garage did a YouTube segment on it that is a MUST SEE!

He also created a 1955 Chevrolet “Belwood” that celebrates both his love of cars and surfing and a 1964 Super Stock Dodge Polara.

Bob and his wife Sally moved from Southern California to Estrella in 2019.

In 2009 Bob became a Lifetime Member of the Club. He has been an Active Member for 52 years.
